Alec offers a trauma-informed approach to helping people overcome mental health challenges. Alec assists individuals with identifying how difficult experiences continue to impact someone in the present moment. He frequently utilizes mindfulness practices to help those he works with develop insight. He uses a combination of open discussion, and goal setting, to help those he works with identify and achieve mental wellness. Alec is a clinical social worker licensed in Maryland and Delaware. He has 10+ years experience helping people with mental health and substance use problems. He was inspired to help others by his own experience with counseling during a difficult time in his life. He was very grateful to meet a down-to-earth, understanding, and compassionate counselor who helped him overcome his struggles. His goal is to do the same for those with which he works.

Alec finds it very meaningful to watch people overcome, grow, and change. He appreciates seeing the goodness that remains in times of darkness. He believes genuine connection to others is one of the most powerful ways we can overcome many mental health challenges. What to expect at first session

  • A thorough assessment of the problem which brings the person to therapy that usually takes 60 minutes and includes:

    • Strengths and needs in the areas of physical health, emotional health, social health and spiritual health.

  • Orientation to telehealth counseling.

  • Identifying how often sessions will be needed.

  • Formulating initial diagnosis.
